Brave | Los Angeles Boudoir

Brave. As the new year approached, I knew I didn’t want to set yet another New year’s resolution that would only last a few weeks and then fizzle out. I’ve set myself up for disappointment way too many times doing that. This year, 2019, needed to be different for me. 2018 was one of the hardest years I’ve ever experienced,..and while I don’t feel quite ready to share it all, a huge part of it was my new panic attacks and my ever faithful friends, anxiety with a side of depression. Gesh! You may be asking where I am going with this! Well! I’ll tell ya. I decided that this year would be MY year (and every year after that), and I decided I would be BRAVE! I am taking my life, my joy, my mind and my spirit back and I feel better than I have felt in so long…I feel like the old Linds again; with still much work ahead! I am falling back in love with myself…every part of me. And my wish is for every woman to do the same.

2018 ended on an extremely high note for me as I decided to make the ginormous leap and open a boudoir studio in Rolling Hills Estates, Ca. So I knew I needed to be brave in order to make my dreams into a reality. I did a lot of work to get to where I am at today (a huge factor in that healing came from a book called Dare, yoga, and meditation) and I couldn’t be more grateful. Ok, now I’m rambling hahaha! I finally could see the light again, and I put my boss lady pants on and had my first boudoir session in the studio! Holy moly….it felt freakin’ amazing to be back and photographing. And I’m gonna be really honest with you…this is the only the fourth boudoir shoot I’ve done (aside from one workshop)….and now you probably think I’ve lost my marbles for opening a BOUDOIR studio after so few sessions. Well, I’m here to tell you that I have found what I LOVE and what not just calls to me, but SCREAMS to me. I literally walked to my car after the session with the biggest smile on my face! I love love love showing women allllll of the beauty I see in them that they might not yet see. I am living my dream and for that I am beyond grateful and filled with love.

This beauty is someone I have grown up with, she’s my little sister’s best friend. I asked her to come in and be my first test shoot in the studio, her response “Heck yeah! I’m so excited!!” This was her first boudoir session and she was adorably nervous and excited. Samantha Pack was on hair and makeup and I’m tellin’ ya…it felt just like being with my best girlfriends hanging out chit chatting, laughing and playing dress up. I want every woman to feel all the feels from a session like this. I’m so dang proud of her for being so brave during her session; she did amazing!! I am proud of my bravery and for the bravery of every woman who has and will spend time in front of my camera.

Maternity Beach Session | Los Angeles, Ca Maternity Photographer

I have been so excited and eager to share this maternity session since....well, since I was actually photographing it at one of my favorite Southern California beaches. I was so honored when Lauralee contacted me to capture her growing family. Lauralee and I have known each other for many many years (too many to count) and she has got to be one of the sweetest and most genuine people I know...not to mention, she's a killer surfer chick; so the beach was the most natural choice for their session. Gahhhh we had so many laughs and fun on this evening. And I mean come on, can't you just feel the love and connection these two have for one another!? Wowzers and holy smokes!!!  Congrats to this now family of four on welcoming their sweet little girl earthside.

Looking back, I think the funniest thing about this session was after it was over. I realized once I got to Chipotle (its my fav!) that I didn't have the dress she wore (I've started a client closet). I texted Lauralee and didn't hear back from her right away. So I grabbed my burrito and headed back to the was 9pm and pitch black! I walked down the long path to the beach into the crashing waves and through the rocks to look for that dang dress...with my iPhone flashlight. Only to fear that I would end up on the 10 o'clock news "Girl eaten by flying shark while looking for dress with dinky flashlight." Well, I didn't end up on the news or with a dress in hand. Once I got into my car and blasted the heater, Lauralee text me and she GRABBED THE DRESS! All was well, and I enjoyed my burrito. I mean, you would have gone back for this dress too, right?

Reclaimed | Joshua Tree, Ca Boudoir Photographer

This session will definitely go down in the books as one of my most favorite and memorable - and we definitely laughed so hard I nearly peed (hey - it happens after a baby!). L and I have know one another for over 6 years as we are cousins through marriage and we quickly became best of friends. She's got that carefree and confident vibe and I just love being around her! We recently took a trip to Joshua Tree and we knew we had to grab this opportunity by the....well, balls. HAHAHA! I asked L to write a little something about her first boudoir here it goes! Hope you enjoy this totally spicy and stunningly gorgeous women!

I’ve wanted to do a boudoir shoot as a gift for my husband since we’ve been married. Heck, I’ve even wanted to do it for years before that. I had this dreamy imagery in mind of soft white sheets, lacy delicate lingerie, silky full curls, and some killer high heels. I would visibly picture sitting my husband down, handing him this heavy hard covered book and waiting for his expression as he turned to page one. Yet year after year, about 9 to be exact, I always managed to cultivate a new excuse to put it off. I’ll do it after I loose some weight, I would tell myself. Then there was my first pregnancy, a second pregnancy, nursing, a broken ankle and the list went on and on. Although very subtle, something shifted this last year as I hit the big 3-0. That plus a combo of dreamy vacation vibes, a phenomenal photographer and not going to lie, a little tequila, I decided there was no better time than the present! Disclaimer: I am related to Lindsay through marriage, so I may be a tad biased when I say how incredibly talented she is, however the proof is in the pictures! I’ve had the good fortune of using Lindsay as our personal photog over the years. She was present to capture the birth of my second born son and since then we’ve done countless family sessions, a nursing session, and now most recently this boudoir shoot. Lindsay has the ability to become your instant best friend, a trait that I’ve witnessed as true with not only new family members like myself but with complete strangers. Hey, she’s somehow managed to get me to take my clothes off and get in front of a camera more than once now! All jokes aside, it’s impossible to not feel an instantaneous and genuine connection to Lindsay. My husband has yet to see these photos, our anniversary is in a few months, but the select few people I’ve showed have commented on how comfortable and at ease I look in them. When I look at these photos I not only feel comfortable but also beautiful. I’m proud of them. I've thought a few times since this photo shoot if I’ll look back and wonder what was I thinking?!?!... and maybe I will! However, the memories of the location, the laughter, and the purpose are things that I will always hold close to my heart ❤️

Blissful Boudoir Beach Session | Laguna Beach, Ca Photographer

I had the incredible honor to attend The Blissful Maven's Workshop in Laguna Beach recently and it was a dream come true for me. When I began my photography journey I stumbled upon Candice's work and was so inspired and captivated by her art. We were lucky enough to photograph two completely stunning women on this day. This is Tanya Van Otterloo. After this workshop Tanya and I connected and I discovered she is an uber talented photographer; I'm so glad she is now someone I get to call a friend. I will let the photos speak for themselves...
